They do it so you just nod and smile with your mouth shut. They then quickly move away before you've finished your mouthful and are able to give any criticism.

You can beat the system though by getting everyone on your table to take it in turns to eat a mouthful so that there is always someone who hasn't got their mouth full! lol

Having been a waiter, we do that to get a brief answer. If it is or isn't you can just nod accordingly. If it isn't of course you stick around until you can find out. If it is, there are a bunch of other needs customers have that you need to get attended.

As a waiteress I know that we like to ask these questions to make sure we don't need to reorder your food or get you anything else. Sometimes, especially if you have a lot of tables you have to ask whenever you can. We don't do it on purpose.

They are very concerned about your well-being and overall happiness with the meal. If there are any further questions, feel free to contact me.

It's nice they check on you...just shake your head up and down...(Good, Fine...) or shake your fork at them...(Got a problem here...need another Coke...more water...whatever) It's way better than having to flag them down. They do their best, they are trying to serve. Have you ever had their job? It isn't easy.
