As the others said you need to watch the heat in Death Valley, it didn't get that name for nothing. Go through there early early morning, like leave Vegas at 6:00 AM. Also there was a BIG rock slide in Yosemite so check with the Park service about which road is now closed (it wil be closed for about 6 months; I heard on the news about a week ago). You may need to revise your route.

Of course you can. In addition to the recommendations about car maintenance and carrying more water than you think you could possibly drink, make sure you have good maps for the areas you will visit.
Highway 140 is the road with the rockslide. It needn't affect you - you can take Hwy 120 from Yosemite to San Francisco instead.

Yes, but I would recommend doing it in February. Do you know how hot it is in Death Valley? It's probably 125 right now. Make sure the car is in good condition: fluids tires, hoses, belts. Fill the tank before it's too late. Gas in the Valley is probably going to be $4 + per gallon.

yes you can and they are both worth seeing...if you are doing both you will be cheaper getting a year ticket which will then give you access to any other national parks.
$50 for year ticket with unlimited access or $10 a pop for each park.

You can if you really want to. I don't recommend it though.
