Well it's a natural phenomenon. If moon is not rotating then some thing else any where else in our solar system will do something to compensate for this energy.
Remember : Energy can neither be created nor be destoyed and according to the energy conservation principle this energy will have to be redirected . So it can be millions of other possibilities :)
Like days will be shorter ans earth rotates fast to use that excess energy or something like that.

There wouldn't be tides, which are created by the moon's gravitational pull on the Earth. The moon would not be there as a source of light during the evening, and there wouldn't be any eclipses.
I read an article in a scientific magazine saying that if the moon did not exist, Earth would be wobbling dangerously on its axis. It stated that the moon balanced the Earth on its tilted axis.
