its said in the news that the global temps. have been higher this decade that the previous 1000 yrs. already we are seeing changes in the arctic with meltdowns and increased severe weather, as well as catastrophic events , happening all over the world. i was pondering the thought that if temps. reach high enough levels, eventualy the world would not be able to sustain the heat and was wondering how long it might take for global warming to have such an effect..

Never. The temperature has already risen...if you believe that.

How do you measure the temperature of THE EARTH? I mean, I can tell you the temperature in Seattle on January 3rd at noon, but what was the temperature for the earth in 2005? There are lots of temperatures in lots of different places on the planet, and the temperatures are always changing depeding on the time of day and the seasons.

Even if you can figure it out for today, how on earth (haha) can you reasonable try to figure out the temperature 1000 years ago???

Of course, if you are a climatologist and can convince people that global warming is going to kill them, it would be especially easy to get the $500,000 grant from the government to justify your existance and get that nice SUV you've been wanting...

The temperature is up. We're still here. Enough said.

We are seeing the start of the end, we continue to burn fossil fuel and dis troy the forest. The forest produces a carbon monoxide, a key element to balance the Earth's ozone atmosphere. Gases from pollution are trapped in the atmosphere, which later re-enter the earth's climate, causing a global temperatures to increase on a rapid scale. We are destroying this Planet slowly, however the planet will defend itself with Earthquakes, Hurricanes, Twisters and Tsunami. This planet has survived many pr editors worst than us.
