this maybe one of lifes great mysteries. and althouhgh on the surface it seems a bit strange, does'nt it feel so good give to someone you love?

That's an interesting question... Its just an age old sign of affection, and if you watch apes they do it too. I suppose its some instictual way to show that we care for one another.
