OK, 18 years cleaning carpet....STOP PUTTING STUFF ON IT!

You need an ENZYME type pet stain remover. You need to rinse ALL of the cleaning agents you put down with the Carpet Machine. Right away. Most cleaners you can buy are very strong, and are not PH neutral. Generally most of the damage is caused when you put a strong cleaner on an already acidic spot...urine, feces...etc..

You want a product that is mixed with warm water, to activate the bacteria. Should be a digestive action. The enzyme will eat at the organic material. Also, if the food the dog eats has a lot of dye in it...you know, different colored bit and pieces...you likely may end up with a light stain from that dye. Urine, when improperly cleaned, will leave a dull yellow stain from the acid.

Good luck. In the future, if the feces is wet, and you can bear it...cover it and let it dry. Then break it off whole. If you do not add water, you do not disperse the problem into the carpet. Always blot as dry as possible before using ANY kind of liquid. As for spot cleaner...1-part water 1-part rubbing alcohol...several drops of clear liquid soap.

The alcohol help dry the spot quickly and acts as a disinfectant.

You can try Club Soda, but if the carpet cleaner didn't work ...
Resolve and Woolite and several others make a product specifically for pet stains and odor. you will also need to go to pet shop and get a product to kill the odor or he will go right back to the spots. (You might not smell it anymore but he can!)
You could try a home carpet cleaner machine. Bissel makes a good one and I've had success on some old pet stains left by a tenant.
If all else fail Service-Pro or another steam cleaning service can get the stains out.
If you can afford replace Mom's carpet, that's is the easiest.

You should call a professional carpet cleaners. and ASAP, cuz as long as the smell stays, the dog will keep pissing the same spot.

- Gather several liters of your dogs' urin;
- Spread them UNIFORMLY on the WHOLE carpet;
- Dry it up;
- Admire the result: no more little stains on your mom's carpet;
- don't tell your mom about your secret :-)
