As far as ROCK, Eric Clapton
Jimi Hendrix
Eddie Van Halen
These are the obvious top 3.
It gets harder after this. Certainly not Slash or Angus Young! I would say maybe Carlos Santana (He has a unique style. You immediately know its him soloing.)
My 5th choice is a tie between Jeff Beck and Duane Allman. Maybe Allman.

JAZZ - Django Reinhart
Wes Montgomery
John McLaughlin
Larry Carlton
George Benson

BLUES - BB King
Eric Clapton (again)
Mike Bloomfield
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Roy Buchanon

COUNTRY - Albert Lee
Chet Atkins
(the guy who used to play on early Emmylou Harris first few CDs I don't remember his name)
The next 2 is anyones guess. Country isn't my specialty.

Angus Young- AC/DC
Synyster Gates- Avenged Sevenfold
Zacky Vengeance- Avenged Sevenfold
Claudio Sanchez- Coheed & Cambria
Sonny Moore- From First To Last (he's actually not the guitarist, he used to be. he's awesome!)

my guitarists are in no paticular order because they are really good and i can't choose who would come first and last and in the middle, so that's it.
