George Washington was fairly wealthy on his own, but it was his wife, Martha, who brought what was then massive wealth to his coffers. A twenty-first equivilant would be John Kerry marring Heinz heiress Theresa Heinz. Washington DC isn't really that rich, being beholden to congress for its funding, and Washington State I believe is in a deficit right now.
