mymadsky: HOW MANY TIMES HAVE CONSERVATIVES TAKEN POINTS, JUST AS, IF NOT MORE, OUT OF CONTEXT AS THIS QUESTION DOES...
THERE ARE MANY, MANY, MANY QUESTIONS THAT TALK ABOUT "WHAT A LIBERAL BELIEVES" THAT IS JUST AS BIAS AND STUPID AND USUALLY MORE OUT OF CONTEXT...
HELL RUSH HAS MADE A CAREER OF SAYING CRAP JUST LIKE THIS!
WHY IS IT OK FOR CONSERVATIVES TO TAKE THINGS TOTALLY OUT OF CONTEXT AND CALL LIBERALS UN-AMERICAN, BUT IT'S NOT OK WHEN DEMOCRATS DO IT? CAN CONSERVATIVES JUST NOT TAKE THE HEAT?

Don't try to change things around on whoever left that comment.
The fact is that this war has had far fewer casualties than any other war we have ever fought that lasted this long.
NO ONE wants to see a soldier die, but keep in mind that no soldier I know wants to cut and run.
Also, it is Liberals that make the Vietnam Iraqi comparison and it is very inaccurate. Everyone in this war volunteered. How would it be if Republicans acted like you and couldn't stick to the subject without switching something around? Lets say I were to bring out the fact that you would be safer to fight the Vietnam war then what you are now in the womb of a womans stomach.

Are you an idiot? Do you really believe that any true American citizen..regardless of their political disposition thinks MORE us solders should die?
The comment was clearly made that although we are at war, the number of solders lost is far less than what it has been for previous wars....Which is a TRUE statement.
AND don't BOTH sides compare this with Vietnam? Furthermore, we should compare it to Vietnam! If we do not we are destined to make he same mistakes.
I'm guessing from your ignorance that you are neither a Democrat or a Republican and lord knows you are way too dumb to be a Libertarian.

The point, I believe, he is trying to make is twofold. One, people die in war. It's sad, it sucks, but it's true. The MSM makes it sound like this is the first war in which people died. Two, I think he's trying to put the situation in context, give it perspective as compared to other military conflicts.
In the decision to go to war, or continue a war, the sole focus cannot be whether or not soldiers are dying. In war, soldiers die. If that was the criteria, one would never go to war. And, in the events of human beings, war is inevitable. It has always been with us, and it always will be. We cannot remain a free country if we refuse war when someone else thrusts it upon us.

they don't want to end the war because they don't know how. There is no conclusion that makes them look good or right. This is what happens when you start a war without a plan. However republicans aren't the only ones to blame, do not forget that the democrats of this nation are the ones who never asked to see a plan. they just rolled over and let the repubs go for it.

One American killed for a purpose that does not involve our security, protecting our liberties, or for the nation's defense is one too many.
The 2500+ dead, the tens of thousands wounded, the 10-100,000 odd Iraqi dead, were not killed for the defense of our nation. They did not die to protect our liberties. They didn't die for our nation's defense.
They died because George Bush and his administration had ambitions for going into Iraq from day one. Since the end of the Gulf War in '91, guys like Cheney & Rumsfeld have been aching to get the US back into Iraq and topple Hussein.
9/11 gave the Bush administration the perfect excuse to go to war with Iraq. They got it.
It's made America less safe, less free, and has weakened our national defense. It's put major distrust in our leadership. It's created a huge political divide in the nation and around the world with our allies and with nations that are friendly to the US.
It's made us less secure because dicatorships like Iran and North Korea are now heavily trying to build weapons of mass destruction to thwart American military intereference.
Iraq is unstable, and will remain so as long as we stay there, and if we leave. Bush put us into a no-win scenario. We can't pull out because the Iraq democracy they want to build will collapse. We can't stay because our presence interferes with the Iraqi's capability of building a post-Saddam nation.
As such, there are many Republicans I know that are really disappointed at the failure of the Bush presidency. (In a similar way that many Democrats were unhappy with Clinton as a Democrat.)
All I can say is vote Dems into office in November. Volunteer your time. Urge everyone to bring the Dems into office.
From there, work to build democracy from the ground up. It's about damn time we Americans stop sitting on our butts and remind those in power who they work for.
It's our country. We have the right and duty to demand better from our leaders.
Deal with Iraq seriously. Create a concrete plan. Then get the hell out of there.

What part of the term "Cannon Fodder" do you not understand. To many American companies are making to much money to end the war prematurely. Just check Halliburtons stock price.

The republicans don't care how many of our people die in Iraq because it's mostly middle class and poor people who join the armed forces. The republican party is the party of the rich. The rest of us are totally unimportant to them.
