Yes - it makes it very hard to trust people. Find people you know you can trust and stick with them (auto mechanics, honest businesses, etc.) They are out there, but you need to check with people to see if they have heard good/bad things.

Yes! This young woman came into my work and said she was selling Christmas cards because her daughter was ill and she needed money for medical bills. I bought some to be delivered in a week or 2. I paid and never saw her again.

yes, i was scammed by a spammer. about 5 yrs ago, i thought i was getting a "free" 2way pager if you pay money for the service. it turns out it was actually a 1way pager, and they never sent it out, but deducted the money from my account.

I'm 43 and I am convinced that worst scammers in the world are banks. We can't do without them, but avoid them as much as possible. They make money off your money.

Not personally, but I know of a couple of people who sent off money, to win money, and they lost.
