Tell a brief story about yourself where you touch on previous education and work history. Try chronological order, and limit yourself to relevant history. Don't talk about a stamp collection if you have one.

If you can, research the firm and position beforehand so you can tailor your intro to the firm's needs and start on the right foot.

Have your intro written and polished and memorized well before you arrive at the interview.

The object of the question is to find out if you are articulate and can organize your thoughts. First state your name then tailor the rest of your response to the company you're applying to. "My name is John Smith and I attended Smith University to train as an accountant. I've lived in Elm City for 5 years and am looking forward to joining your firm's finance department as an integral team member." Verbiage along those lines, substituting the appropriate information.
