Whether it be posters, floor/carpet ideas, wall color ideas, I'll take all suggestions. We can't paint the walls.

Get a loft if your school permits it. It opens up a lot of space and you can decorate the wood of the loft any way you like. A lot of people I know paint theirs to match tho other room decorations and carpet. Also, an alternative to painting the walls is to find a wrapping paper that you like the patten of (probably something that is repeated, like squares or something) an put it up on the walls with the blue tacky gum stuff like wall paper.

Do you like sports? Or have a favorite music group, or two? Favorite animals? I'd put posters of all of the above, on your walls, some plants, maybe, photos, of your girlfriends, from highschool, bestfriend photos, maybe your family, or "Mentor's"photos. Clips, of what your future your educating yourself for on your walls, to help you stay motivated, with your vision, of what you portray your future to be like, in picture, poster, or drawing forms, on your walls. Enjoy! There's really so much you can do ....Pick favorite themes if your not into posters and photos. Put your trophies, or models, or statuettes, all around. Find, your own, personality, in decorating. And, you can even change it from time to time. It doesn't always have to stay the same. That way when you get bored with it, and change it around, or get new posters, everything will seem new to you, again. Good-Luck, Hun! And just have fun with it!!!

Most college book stores have poster sales to help people deocrate. Try to avoid the boring some old images everyone chooses. Go with something unique. Think about how the colors work together, how you want people to feel when they're in the room, what you want your room to say about you.

make sure you keep it personal, and before you hang anything make sure its something that we look good with your roommates side also. go to walmart in the picture frame area and get poster frames and stick your pictures in there so they dont get messed up. Things u need in ur dorm are
1. tv
2. video game
3. computer,
4 george forman grill-i know they say you cant have them but what they dont know dont hurt them just make sure it is in a suit case when they do inspections
6. ear plugs
7. good music
8. dvd player and dvds

college life cant get pretty dull- food is sometimes nasty mostly weekends-when ice storms hurricanes or rain comes nothing to do but sit in the room-

also having this stuff helps you meet new people in your dorm.

Since you're a guy, here is the absolute BEST idea, applicable whether you are "sharing" a room, or have your own bedroom in a college suite style dormroom: build a bed platform!

In college, my roommate and I built a bed platform that was the entire width of the room, and half its depth - we basically had a "loft" or two story apartment. It gave us LOTS more room, and the chicks - oh the chicks! - loved to come in and climb around on it ... they would roll into bed on their own! It was fantastic.

Its also fun to build ... I would suggest well sanded lumber without stains or painting ... looks really pure and cool. Paint the walls first - also, paint the ceiling a bright, semi-gloss white -- or BLACK. One or the other.

But a large spacious bed platform is the best. And find a sign on eBay that says "visitors welcome" and put it above your bed in your platform!

Good luck.

posters with sticky tack. The sticky tack won't ruin the walls. Also Walmart and various discount stores (like the $1 stores, where everything costs only $1 plus tax.) Those are good places to start, also you could even hit the garage/yard sales. Even Good Will and Salvation Army stores sell nice things for resonable prices.

1. Put up black lights and a reflective disco ball.
2. Hang funhouse mirrors.
3. Buy some cheap Greek pillar lookalikes and put them in the corners.
4. Steal a traffic light from a minor intersection and put it up. A stop or yield sign might be easier. OR, a sign that says its a felony to steal this sign would be really impressive.
5. Barber pole.
6. Take up painting and hang your artwork.

I like to make things "me", personal, show what I like, you know? I've found that looking on eBay for appliques depicting things you like are great for putting on the doors, walls, ceilings, whatever.
