"The Bird People in China" (Japan) The door scene alone...it just reminds me of culture shock and what it's like to live in Asia.
"Mediterraneo" (Italy) Very funny.
"All about my Mother", "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown", and many, many other Almodovar films (Spain). He launched the careers of Antonio Banderas and Penelope Cruz.
"Like Water for Chocolate" (Mexico)
"The Story of Qiu Ju" (China). I love movies that Zhang Yimou has directed. I cannot stand Chen Kaige's.
Rabbit-Proof Fence (Australia) I was fine until the end, when I found out it was a true story.

"The Tin Drum" based on Guenter Grass' book by the same name is an incredible film. It takes a very uncomfortable look at fascism, love and basic human nature - just to name a few topics. Also incredibly original. (German, Am. available version is dubbed, I believe)
"The Commitments" - great story about a bunch of misfits who actually pull together a (music) band in Ireland. Gives a great look at the gritty side of life while remaining relatively upbeat. Also has teriffic soundtrack.
"Wings of Desire" (German title "Himmel ueber Berlin") - the original of the film (can't think of the title) with Nicholas Cage and Meg Ryan, this one directed by Wim Wenders is a classic. An angel falls in love and decides to become mortal to be with that woman. Bruno Gans plays the angel, it has some excellent non-Hollywood cinematographic scenes. Just beautifully done, timeless.
"East is East" - about a British/Pakistani family in Britain (the mother is British, the father Pakistani). The kids are almost grown, the father decides it's time to become more traditional and starts arranging their weddings. Hysterically funny at times, it's also heartbreakingly believable. Interesting juxtaposition of class, money and cultural clash.
"Amelie" - French w/ subtitles. Amelie is an outsider who watches others' lives, she inadvertently discovers the thrill of random acts of kindness and begins to live, albeit secretively and slyly. Wonderful playful, quirky French style of fillmmaking. Nice love story.
"Maenner" - German, probably available w/ subtitles. Classic 80s film in Germany, the story follows a couple of the verge of a possible breakup and the lengths to which one partner will go to re-ignite the flame of the marriage. Situation and oddball comedy.
I could go on for hours but need to cook dinner!

I liked the movie A Very Long Engagement
Eventhough it had subtitles I still liked and was able to keep up with the story. I thought the ending could have been a tiny bit better.

I liked the movie "Dopamine". The begining of the internet age fascinates me. The idea with someone falling in love with one of their creations is not too far off.
