The term Neocon is just as extremist and radical as the term liberal. And, in the whole scheme of things, it doesn't really mean anything anyway.

Whether you call yourself a conservative or a liberal, it is still an off center ideology that doesn't embrace everyone in the whole support base that you need in order to work efficiently and resolve conflict.

Neocons are as intransigent, ideologically selfish and as vapid as liberals. That's why nobody listens to either anymore. The rhetoric ran out a long time ago, when the fresh ideas ran out. Now, it's all the same old stale ideas that don't work.

What we need is a whole lot more moderates.

I'd be more than happy to call you a "liberal" or "Democrat", why must you insist on "Neocon"? Why not conservative or Republican? I for one think of neocon as a slur, and I don't think I'm by myself. I can't say I have trouble "accepting" anything from some liberals though. I expect the worst, and when they are decent and ask decent questions I am delighted. It's amazing to me that you would even ask the question.

Liberals are NOT proud of their moniker. Most run from it like their butt is on fire. That's how we end up with terms like progressive, independent, and moderate. Other than California and Massachusetts, liberals consistently have trouble getting elected.

You can call me a conservative Republican...but the definition you gave of neocon says they are relatively unopposed to big government...that's usually a liberal thing. I believe in limited federal government...especially when it comes to various programs. I think more responsibility and power should reside in state governments...with the federal government in a position of overall leadership, and in charge of blanket programs...but states need to step up and take care of individual problems. That's just one of my MANY viewpoints.....:)

You answered your own question. Few people call themselves Neocons. It;s just one of those stupid things people say on TV.
