What do you think constitutes a good work ethic?

Attendance: arrives on time and gives advance notice of absence.

Character: Displays loyalty, honesty, trustworthiness, dependability, reliability, initiative, self-discipline, and self-responsibility.

Teamwork: Respects the rights of others; is a team worker and is cooperative.

Appearance: Displays appropriate dress, grooming, hygiene and etiquette.

Attitude: Demonstrates a positive attitude.

Productivity: Good work habits result in a good work product.

Organizational Skills: Manifests skill in personal management, time management, prioritizing, flexibility, stress management and the ability to deal with change.

Communication: Displays appropriate verbal and nonverbal skills.

Cooperation: Displays leadership skills; maintains appropriate relationships with supervisors and peers.

Respect: Deals appropriately with diversity and treats everyone with respect.

A good work ethic in my opinion is that while you are working you are always doing so in a way that advances the company you work for. If you go to work and only do what it is necessary with no concern for the company and where it is going, you are not adding to its productivity therefore you most likely are cutting your nose to spite your face.

Showing up on time, dressing appropriately, keeping clean. Doing what your told when you are told to do it, and when you are done doing that make sure you have something else to do. Doing tasks as you have been told to do them, being as precise as you can be. Even if it means asking for more work. Look for ways to be of service, even doing things that are not your normal job, in order to see that the business continues to run smoothly. Being respectful of your workplace, fellow employees and especially your boss.
