October would be too late for Niagara Falls...try a couple weeks earlier (around the middle of September). By the time October hits, it would be peak in the Huntsville (Cottage Country area) up to North Bay (which is about a 4-5 hour drive from Niagara Falls).

I have been there in October and I was to late the leaves
already changed and I ended up with pneumonia
It was also very cold and rainy then
