All my friends and some of my family always tell me, "You should write a book"... I often Wondered, is it cos i use language better than they do? or because they just bid me well, or is It cos they are just being supportive and I want to hang onto anything that could encourage me into accessing my dream... I often wonder....

but, let's say i did decide to start such a huge step... what would i write about? i would be another "cheesy writer", putting their feelings into letters, publish them for other people to read... what else would i add to this miserable thing called "world" ? there are some people who looked death in the eye, and didnot write books, and here i am, thinking of writing a book cos i had a stupid row with my mom??? is that worth hundreds of papers to-be typed? the expenses that would come with it? i mean really, think about it... what have i got to add...besides my feelings and thoughts?? im just another peorson.
i would love to be that miracle, or genius that would add some flavor to her book, making it a best seller, ok, lets not aim too high here, i would settle for having people reading it and thinking its good enough to buy.

so here i am, trying to find a topic to write about... and nothing really...i mean nothing of real worth.
should i tell you how my day went by? or should i discuss with you my point of view on some of the hot topics discussed nowadays? probably start with the "da Vinci code" that's a good topic to discuss... but i will fall in to some category of people, i wont be introducing anything special... some people find it crossing the lines, and some simply don't... that's what it falls into in the end of the day..
personally, im with the latter part of people... im not a very well-read person, so i won't put some kind of philosophy here about Christianity or any of the topics dealt with in the book... i can't just say something when i am not sure about... what i can say is this...he wants to write the book, because he found some hardcore evidence supporting his findings
... so why is everyone so against him and his book? people are making a big deal of it, making the common, ordinary people such as myself, who aren't all acknowledged about everything there is to know, think, why are they making such a big fuss? God gave us freedom to express anything we want right? so let everyone express it, if someone thought something, no matter how trespassing he is to religions, or human rights..its his problem... its his own and only opinion, and if there are other people who support him, then again, it's their own and only decision to do so... the media is just influencing us to believe things in exaggerated terms ... ok, what if what the discussed topics in his book turned out to be true... they are not God to say that those events aren't true... where they there with Jesus Christ if he married or didn't marry Merriam the Magdalene? where they there? are they any live eye witnesses? no, but there is historic evidence that leads us to believe things people interpreted, and lead us to believe those interpretations, according to their views and beliefs... isn't that what's happening now? just waves of thoughts, and ideas flowing into our brains, that are induced by other people... so, practically we are not thinking for ourselves, we are thinking what they want us to think...
so??? what are we thinking exactly?
so, he wants to write, let the guy write...remember the fuss that was made by the caricature drawings of Prohpet Mohammed?? Muslim countries boycott danish products... their embassies were closed down..yada yada yada, for those who prefer etc, then, etc etc etc... and then? what is the use? there is a limit not to be crossed, there should be boundaries in life, that is true... cos then we would be living in the wild....a guy, drew some stupid things about the Prophet of Islam Mohammed, if that's what he thinks deep down, and then put those drawings to reality, like i am doing now, putting my thoughts on paper, or a "notepad" in my case to be precise... so what? its his thought? if others agree with him, then buy the fuking paper and laugh with him, those are against him, then simply dont buy the paper, one person's thoughts doesn't embody the Prophet of Islam in some lousy drawings... he already thinks it, what has changed? the riots? the burnings? the aggressive response he found from the Muslim world? is that what he was seeking? and what did the Muslim world achieve by all this destruction? not one damn thing, they just made those who didn't give a damn, give a damn, and those who didn't buy the paper, buy the paper... so, again? let alone some good old-fashioned reputation about Muslims, let alone what the world already thinks of them, all those irresponsible acts lead the world to believe that they are terrorists, why couldnt they just object peacfully like the Christians did on the topic of the "da vinci code" ? what did they achieve? defend Prophet Mohammed? He doesnot need defending... if someone who has a right frame of mind, he would simply search the net about him, and they will find out who he truly was, a divine person... common, u r reading this through the net, why dont you do some simple searches about him? what it will take 15 minutes of your time to find out who this person was? other than just copying the thoughts of other people into your brain??

i just dont see why people fuss about unimportant stuff when there are more serious things in this world than a writer who says that Jesus Christ has a wife, messing with Christianity and what people believe, or some Journalist who portrays the Prophet Mohammed in such a demeaning way... there are some serious epidemics in this world, that needs our attention more than those read, and watched so called problems
...people are dying for God's sake; people are suffering, real, flesh and blood human beings are being tortured, live and breathing...suffer... and you give your undivided attention to articles, books... and people are dying... is that what the world has come to?
caring about things that dont really matter?

ps: quite a journal, i salute those who read it!! lol

This is a good question. :) I like reading books, but when I read this I thought, how is any book better than what is written here? I think it's just as good as any book I've read. Books are really to entertain people and this was just as entertaining as anything else. People tend to think things should be done in a certain way, that books should start with "once apon a time" and end with "and they lived happily ever after" (I'm exaggerating of course)

Still, I don't think you should write a book UNLESS you really want to. Otherwise you're going to quit halfway through, or will run out of ideas and end up throwing the whole thing in the trash (or having an editor do it).

By the way, I suggest you do what sbdy suggested already - start a blog.

sorry i didn't make it through, writing is an art that gets better with practice (says me). you may abandon your first few books before you become fascinated with some subject and just have to write the story. i wouldn't suggest writing a book about another book though. try making a list of ideas and start a little on some of them. it can be rewarding for yourself even if not lucrative or a great book. try to be clear and concise, editing is not just a spell check, don't write to fill up paper/ make every piece count. have fun, do it bit by bit and don't worry about it.

as for the world. hard enough to take care of myself. i'm not saving the world anytime soon.

When Sir Philip Sydney, in his Apology for Poesie, asked his muse how to proceed, she said:

"Fool, look in thy heart and write!"

Sorry for the "Fool", but then Muses are often not polite.
You might also want to remember that it not necessarily always the case that everyone else shares your conception of the things that you think really/don't really matter.
And that's fortunate - what a boring, if peaceful, world it would be if we all agreed about everything.

The Dragon started heating up, and flying around.

The troll and the soceress stood by him.

"You write because you want to damned write", Dio said.

"You freaking write because you care to. What the hell did you think?"

He paused for a bit.

"Write to influence people. That is the point of it. Try to change their lives a bit. Make at least a little bit of difference. That is what hell you are trying to do"

The troll belched.

"Thanks Magfoola, that helped", Dio said.

"Make a damned difference. That is why you write", Dio concluded.
