Tough question since the characters have been changed soo much from the original comic versions.

But, okay, here we go...

Let me first preface by saying that I'm a diehard X-Men fan. I collected the comics when I was younger (during Chris Claremont's run when it was still good). So after watching the movie versions I was horrified that so much was changed. The characters were changed, the history of the characters are all out of whack, the heart and soul of the characters (what made them great characters) are gone, and the storyline doesn't make sense at all.

Now for Supes... Lois is a single mom raising a kid? WTF!!!
Did the people who made the movie have no clue about the Superman characters. This is almost as bad as when they tried to cast Nic Cage as Superman. Nic's one of my fave actors, but come on. The hound dog look does not a Superman make. Just like Michael Keaton playing Batman. Horrible casting. Horrible movie from Tim "I have never read a comic book" Burton.

John Peters, the producer at the time, wanted a movie where Superman would NOT be wearing the Superman suit, and would not fly. Which is kinda of the whole Superman thing. The suit and flying is what Superman is known for. Peters said no, he didn't want Supes in the suit because it was too *****. Also, carrying people around while flying - horse crap! (I'm not making this up). These are the kind of idiots in charge of making movies about some of our most beloved heroic characters. No respect at all for the project and characters they are undertaking.

Christian Bale is at least a step in the right direction, and the movie wasn't bad.

My advice... wait til the movies come out on cable. That way you not only save your money, but you can change the channel if you don't like the movie.

Only by seeing both, can I judge. I am, and have always been an X-men junky...But Superman also stayed in my interests...I believe X-men 3 will have the bigger opening weekend (Superman opens on a Wednesday) but overall Supes will be the bigger money maker. The entire world has known Superman almost as much as America for a lot longer than Wolvie and the mutants.
I was disappointed that Pheonix never actually appeared as a flaming giant bird of destruction, VERY disappointed, no flame effects at all.
I have seen the airplane scene in Superman Returns...and I have NEVER seen anything that amazing in theaters or on TV.
Also, I believe the Son of Superman (something never done in comics or TV or movies) is Lois's son.

I have seen X-men 3 and like it. What I have seen on the commercials, I don't think Superman Returns will be as good as Superman 2. X-men 3 is the best.

X3 was terrific- even for a comic veteran of the franchise, it offered a lot of surprises and great twists. A Superman flick comes too soon though and I'm not sure that I have any interest in seeing it. Smallville's still going strong and for me... Tom Welling is the current Clark Kent. Michael Rosenbaum is not just one of the greatest actors of all time but the best actor to ever tackle Lex Luther. Erica Durance is the only Lois for me at the moment too so... the thought of shelling out $7.50 to go see some people I've come to know in a way being presented to me by a different set of thespians? No thank you. I'll go see X3 again.

I think X-Men 3 only because I am not a very big fan of Superman.

X-men 3. While the superman movie is interesting the Xmen movie was not only a great story but there were SO MANY little homages to the comic book artwork and story lines that it was hard to keep track of them.

X-Men 3. Superman looks like a simple attempt to cash in money from a popular hero. The visuals are not as stunning as in X-Men. X-Men had a lot of attention paid to it, and it was spectacular. Bryan Singer cannot incorporate as many appealing themes into Superman as Brett Ratner did into X-Men.

Superman Returns. It will be the first time in about 20 years that the Man of Steel returns back to the Big Screen.
