wash them again and use extra detergent, then put a ton of smelly dryer sheets in when you dry them.

That's okay, that's happened to me before, too. You just left them in there too long and they started to mold. Follow the other suggestions and re-wash them, then dry them, then wash them again. Don't go crazy putting a lot of soap in there, because that could be disastrous for your washing machine. I'd put some baking soda in there, too, as it can help with the mold and to dissipate odor.

the only way to really get rid of the smell is to let them dry and try again. I've re-washed without drying in between, and it works mostly, but every so often throughout the day you'll smell this smell you can't quite place, but it's not wonderful.
It goes away when you re-wash.

did you wash them again? If not try doing that if that doesn't work go to your Target store or Walmart and go to the deptartment where they have the clothes dye boxes and they should have something there to help you with the mold, or the stinky oder in the clothes good luck!

Use one cup of baking soda with your normal detergent. This is safe for both high efficency washers as well as, normal washers. Wash with hottest water safe for your clothes, then dry. Wash one more time with Oxy-Clean, and dry. This should be all that you need to save your clothes!

That happens to me too. Sometimes I get so busy that I wind up forgetting the laundry. I just wash them again. The smell comes right out for me.

Wash them again with a detergent with bleach in it, that is safe for colors. Then run a cycle of bleach water in the washer.

Been there, done that. I wash them again, with an additional dose of Pine Sol added to the detergent.
