The Valkyrie has NO SERIOUS problems to be concerned about. One that was earlier identified was blamed on the exclusive tire manufacturer (Dunlop) but Dunlop people fixed that problem and since then more Manufacturers have created a size tire to fit the bike. Some front tires wore out fast and had some complaints. Mine never did.
My Valkyrie is the first year model '97. It was an ugly bike I thought but after getting on I couldn't see the looks and concentrated on the ride which was super great. Its grown on me to the point that today I wouldn't sell, trade or lend it. It's no longer made, meaning its going to be a collectors bike. Its Honda roots go back to the early 1970's as its really a Goldwing with 6 carbs and great handling. And FAST.

Well, to me, one problem area is that the engine is too darn big. You don't need a 6-cylinder or anything close to it to push a motorcycle down the road. Your HEAVY bikes only weigh 800 lb, and a 40-horse motor would move that with no problem. There's other lighter cruisers out there that use a lot less gas, have good reliability, save some money and some gas, get like a Kawasaki Concours or something...

with 1800cc the motor is cabable of 200BHP, it has around 100bhp. most issues are from people who cant/dont ride, flat batteries, gummed up fuel system (any bike, not just wing derivatives)
