Mike--this is going to sound very odd--but I think I might have a solution for you. It actually lies in what toothpaste you use before you go to bed.
I have been using the Colgate Whitening Gel for a while now, and although I wake up with a noticeably parched mouth, there is absolutely no drool whatsoever. This never happened to me prior to using this toothpaste, so I have to assume that it's the stimulus.

You need to find out why you're breathing through our mouth when you sleep. If you can breathe freely through your nose, you will keep your mouth shut and you won't DROOL.

maybe you have sleep apnea ... that is what i have and now i am on a breathing machine and it helps.. talk to your dr. It could be something serious. if you have sleep apnea it could shorten your life if not treated. I have listed a source for you to check out.
