okay, i really want to be able to do a back tuck and i am really close, but i don't go to gymnastic school because it is summer and i want to be able to lay back, but my best friend who is a gymnast is helping me and i am so close, i know that i could do it, but i am afraid, i go for it and then i freak out, how can i give my self confidence so that i can just go for it and know that i am safe, even though gymnastics is a very dangerous sport, please help me, i need a confidence building strategy! thank you so much!!!!

The execution of each technique in gymnastics follows rules of physics....if you know which they are for each phase of the technique you are learning, the more confident you are... as in less fearful, because fear holds you back. Understand exactly what is important for back tuck (click web site bellow), and then learn to picture and think of a successfully executed back tuck before you execute it,...instead of thinking negatively.

the way i finally learned is once you just get over one time, then it gets easier every time. the first time is the absolute worst also the longer you stand there you will stand there & sik yourself out & talk yourself out of doing it. dont sit around, do things to hlep you accomplish your goal. Can u do standing backhandspring tucks? thats what helped me, i got that first then just the tuck came easier. or do it in a cheer or something like where a backhandspring would go like make certain words to set on so then u wont be drillin about it so much there will be a lil distraction. Hope all goes well Good Luck ! Tell me if you do it.

I think the best way is to start from the easy movements to the difficult once in the same session and when you feel that you can do it just do it by the way am not a gymnast

You need personal faith. Doesn't have to be faith in God, in this case.--rather, faith in your own bodily skills and coordination.
But you can't just WILL faith into your life.Merely repeating " I can do it!" won't do it. You have to feel and sense it as a real force inside of you.

Considering the health dangers involved, I would just practice the things I CAN do, very well, over and over, until something "clicks" in you--then You'll KNOW you can do the back tuck, and you will.

Go for it, but don't rush prematurely. When you've worked enough, the back tuck will come.

Well if you have someone spotting you, you really shouldn't be very scared. My gymnastics teacher always tells me to think of going "up" when you are doing them.
