We're looking at five:

The Breakup
Click
The Lake House
The Da Vinci Code
Mission Impossible 3

I'm not a fan of Tom Cruise, and he's not a fan of Jennifer Aniston or Adam Sandler (I like Adam Sandler and Vince Vaughn and he likes Tom Cruise). It's hard for us to get out to see movies as we both have widely different tastes.

I would have to go with a film that's not on the list--"Cars". I haven't seen "Click" (my fiancee and I are seeing it this afternoon) but the others were underwhelming (and I absolutely abhored "The Breakup" as being a film that was entirely unpleasant to sit through with the exception of 2 cute scenes involving Jon Favreau and Jason Bateman). In spite of what you might think, "Cars" is not just a kids movie. Like the the other Pixar films, there is a lot to enjoy in the movie and it has a very touching ending. It's not as good as the other Pixar flicks but it's still the best film that I've seen this summer. One tip--if you do see "Cars", stay through the closing credits. It has a hilarious tribute to their other movies that made me laugh harder and longer than any other comedy I've seen this year.

As for the others:

"The Breakup"--already said why I didn't like and Jennifer Aniston & Vince Vaughn had no chemistry together at all (as opposed to Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie in "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" who played wonderful off of each other)

"The Lake House"--not a bad romance but try not to think about it. The ending, especially, makes zero sense whatsoever, as do other events in the story. I won't ruin the ending but if you think it through for just a moment, it either makes the story logically impossible to occur (even if you accept the idea of a mailbox with a time portal) or it gives the impression that Keanu Reave's character is a complete jerk (for a reason I can't go into for fear of ruining the ending). It was a good idea that I just wish had been thought through a bit more.

"The Da Vinci Code"--not a badly made movie and there are definite parts to recommend (particularly Ian McKellon's performance--the man is at the point he can't give a bad performance) but it was rather dry. I could never get that involved with the movie and it was VERRRRY slowpaced at parts.

"Mission Impossible 3"--not as bad as the second one but still a letdown. The reason for that is that there wasn't enough of Phillip Seymour Hoffman. His scenes in the movie were really good and almost saved it. In particular, his final showdown with Ethan Hunt was very good and made me wish we had seen more of him.

I have seen The Lake House, and it's not great. I loved the Da Vinci Code; but it was a personal choice. If you both like action-I suggest Mission Impossible 3 (haven't seen it though).

I heard 'the Breakup' and 'Click' stink. Heard similar about 'Da Vinci'. I don't like T Cruise either, but he is a good actor and I hear MI 3 is pretty good. I would go for that.

The Click is a cute comedy. The Lake House is an excellent romance. My wife and I enjoyed both of them, though we both liked The Lake House a little better because she likes Keanu Reeves and I like Sandra Bullock (for their acting, of course!)

Maybe you should go to video store, and rent two movies...you pick one, and he pick one...then all you have to figure out is which one to watch first....(it's cheaper), but if you have your heart set on theater...I would go see The Lake House...but it looks like a "chick" flick....so he probably won't like it....i only get to see new kids movies...Cars was good! :)

Go with the video store and if you haven't seen, "The Notebook" then you must see it. It has none of the actors/actresses neither of you dislike, and it is a wonderful story about that 'perfect' love.
