I tried everything my parents asked me to do and it hasn't helped my skin. It is starting to spread and they won't take me to the skin doctor.

I'm black. My skin problem runs in my family. I don't have diabetes. My skin gets dry before it peels. Lotions dry up my face, so I use skin cleanser. It only shows up around my nose and it is starting to spread on my face. It is there all the time and it hasn't healed in 3 months. It is worse in the middle of my nose.

What skin is affected? Is it your hands, your face, your trunk, your arms, your feet, knees, elbows, fingers? If it's on your hands, is it on the backs or the palms? If it's "all over" are there any areas that are not affected? Does it only affect sun exposed areas? Does it affect areas within skin folds like your armpits or inner upper thighs?

What race are you? Do you have any medical problems like diabetes?

Have you been exposed to something unusual?

Do you have a history of skin diseases, allergies, or asthma?

Do skin rashes run in your family?

What have you done for it? Have you used any prescription or over the counter medications? Any creams or lotions? Is it on areas where you are exposed to make up, lotions, hair dye, or any chemicals?

Is there any weeping, bleeding, or oozing in the affected areas? Is the affected skin very dry before it starts to crack and peel?

Does it affect the same area(s) all the time, or does it migrate?

Does the skin ever heal? Does it leave a scar when it does? Is the redness a uniform color or is it worse in the middle or worse at the edges?

You really haven't given enough information to make a good start figuring out what's going on. You might want to try talking again with your parents and telling them that you're really worried and think you should see a doctor.

I was once particularly badly sunburnt from snowboarding and my whole face swelled up and peeled. Even supposing its no longer sunburn, i'd advocate that you simply use aftersun cream given that its designed for when your dermis has been dried out and everything and its best and cooling. If that doesnt work, get a really intensive moisturiser..Perhaps go see a medical professional or whatever and ask what they might reccommend.. Simply dont peel it - i did that to the decrease part of my cheek due to the fact that it regarded so horrible and believe me it hurt a hell of lots lol!

It could be an allergy. Did your mother recently change laundry detergents? Or maybe it's sunburn.

Maybe you need to talk to your mom again about going to the doctor. If she still refuses, when school starts again you could talk to the school nurse - but I know that's a few months away.

It may be psoriasis. This is a common skin disease. You need to see a doctor who can prescribe the right medicine.

I can't understand why your parents don't take you to a doctor. If they do not then go yourself or ask someone you trust like a close friend.

Go to the health dept. if they won't take you to a doctor. You may be allergic to something, detergent, plants, etc.
