They didnt just throw away their team for nobody. They got a lot of good prospects. If they can keep Olsen, Willis, and Johnson they will have a very good team. Willingham and Hermida are going to be stars some day, and the rest of the team that is starting right now all has a chance to go to an all star game down the road. They have that much potential.

In case you've forgotten, they play in the NL East. There's another little known team that has dominated that division for 14 years. Nobody else has stepped up to win that division in a decade and a half (but I do think we're looking at a changing of the guard this year).

The Marlins will come around. It'll be a few years because they are rebuilding again (didn't they start 7 rookies on opening day this year?). But don't forget, in their short history, they have won the World Series twice, which is more than many teams can say. That's not really bottom of the pack material.

Actually, I seem to remember before the Marlins- Yankees game on Friday, the announcers said that since mid-May, the Marlins have one of the best Win/ Loss records in baseball.
In fact, if they hadn't had such a sloppy, error-ridden first inning, they would have won Fridays game against the Yanks. So, I'm not sure what you mean about "stepping up". They are playing great baseball in a very tough division.

Ever step up? They have won the World Series twice in the last decade, 1997 and 2003.

Only the Yankees have won the Series more in the last decade.
