In terms of area: Alaska, Texas, California, Montanna, and New Mexico in order of biggest to smallest and to the person who answered before me, Michigan is the 11th. In terms of population it's California, Texas, New York, Florida, and Illinois in that order

Careful with this question, even in terms of geography.

Total area is different from Land area, because the former factors in over all water area.
