racism.. is same way .. they are all not equal opportunity employers or people in this world. People who defend themselves uppity like its because they go thru hell.. not all do tho.. so you can't categorize all of people .. Some contribute some don't. We are all unique individuals on earth some realize this some don't that's just the way it is ..

Truthfully most people don't like to be defensive about anything and with someone homosexual it is no different. Most times the anger comes from the types of comments made and the way they are made to homosexual people. Just because you feel a certain way about something doesn't mean you're always ready to seize the bull by the horns and challenge anyone who thinks otherwise. Put yourself in that situation for a moment and think about when you had someone talk badly about a friend of yours or perhaps a boyfriend that they considered to be a womanizer...did you get upset while defending your friend or your boyfriend and did you get tired of hearing things like that said to you...quite naturally you probably did ...it wokrs the same way with people that are gay.

It depends on what the questions are, and how they're rooted. A question along the lines of "why did you choose to be gay?" is always going to cause offence, as sexuality isn't something which is chosen. Also, questions which infer homosexuality as some kind of religious sin will also cause offence because they are homophobic in nature.

Homosexuals don't get any pleasure in defending homosexuality, because its something which they shouldn't need to do - defend, that is. All homosexuals want is to be able to lead lives without any fear or hatred.

Oh, and I'm a bisexual.

Why should I have to defend homosexuality (or in my case bisexuality)? Why can't I be allowed to live my life just as a heterosexual does, without having to react defensively?

I'd much rather be busy supporting the GLBT Community by offering my thoughts and advice.

Kindly remove yourself from this arena if you've nothing positive (or new for that matter - try browsing the Resolved questions) to add.

Regards

Well if you replaced "gay" with, say "black" or "short" or "mentally retarded" do you still think this would be an acceptable question to ask?

Your god created gay people. If you say "god does not make mistakes" than he intended for homosexuality to occur. Why would anyone choose to be gay when they have to face such ignorance that fans the flames of intolerance? It's just not logical, like many other things you hold true. Why should your religious beliefs allow you to condemn, judge and even attempt to pass laws against a lifestyle that does not hurt you personally? Please just take a minute to think BEYOND yourself. You are hurtful and judgmental FOR WHAT?!

I am saying this as a straight female who was brought up in the catholic church to nauseating degrees.

We get angry because ppl ask us pointless questions and are no challenge at all. Using the bible to try and hate on us..cough...(you)
I do welcome a chance to defend myself from ignorant people who really have no idea.

If someone shoved a gun to your face and asked you to state the exact reasons why you were a Christian, don't you think you would get defensive the next time it happened? We have hatred in our lives every day, and grow sick of it. ESPECIALLY from people who are first and foremost supposed to love. Everybody loves Chris is doing a fabulous job of proving how ignorant you are.
Have a pleasant day.

That's just it, genius, they don't feel it's something they have to defend. I imagine that you put everyone that doesn't agree with your way through this. Do meat eaters have to defend themselves? How about people with tattoos and piercings? Drinkers? Smokers? Wtf? And by the way, what makes you think you are such a challenge?

I hope this answer just changed a life. Peace.

Wouldn't you get angry if people asked you about your sexuality ?
Why are you what you are, did you just wake up one day and decide what orientation you are, do you enjoy it, how do you do it, is it different from other people etc., etc. I realize there are no stupid questions just stupid people. One other thought, why do you care? The only person you can change is yourself and everyone will be accountable for their own actions not yours, not mine, not your neighbors, only yourself.

What is your reaction when people question you about your sex life? If I walked up to you and asked you how you like to get down, would you smile and share all the things that make you tingly down there? I would bet no. I think you would tell me to mind my own business and scram. So, mind your own business. Freedom is the distance between church and state.
