I'm driving there next week. I plan to see Mt.Rushmore, Badlands & Cody. Anything also I should see in the immediate area?

On the way from Mt. Rushmore to Yellowstone, stop and see Devils Tower National Monument. A side trip on the way would be Custer Battlefield.

Allow two days for Yellowstone park.
Criss cross the park.
Stay over night at the Old Faithful hotel.
Well worth it just to see the lobby and to watch Old Faithful from the veranda while sipping on a cocktail as the the sun begins to set.
Excellent dinning facilities and food.
Visit and watch the many geysers throughout the park.
Go to the grand canon of the Yellowstone.
When you see the canyon you will know how the park got its name.
When you see the lake, notice no boats on it or houses on its shores.
it is still the way it always was.
Many waterfalls, deer and buffulos close to the roads feeding and waiting to have their picture taken.
Relax and enjoy.
Wish I could go with you.
Sorry.
You asked "around" Yellowstone.
Like in what is outside the park to see.
Answer:
Jackson Hole, Great Tetons on the Wyoming and from the Idaho side.
