When you're drafting, you're looking at a kid who might be less than 20 years old. It was plain to see Jordan had huge potential, but Akeen Olajuwon went ahead of Jordan and that was a great pick for the Rockets. He brought them the championships they expected he could. Portland passed on Jordan, probably because they already had Drexler.

What all this means is, in hindsight it's Jordan all the way. But when you're picking from high school and college kids, Jordan was probably only the second-best pick in his own year of the draft. Houston quickly built into an NBA champion with Akeem, making him in my view perhaps the best draft pick ever.

As for bad drafts...Dallas picked Detlef Schrempf, Bill Wennington and Uwe Blab all in the first round, while Joe Dumars was still available. Karl Malone fell to 13th and if I remember correctly wanted to play in Dallas to stay close to home (Louisiana).

It has to be Jordan, He was the most unstoppable one on one player in NBA history (lebron may challenge this by the time he's done), could rebound, pass and defend like hell.

And if that wasn't enough even added outside shooting (including the ability to hit clutch 3's, ask Portland) as his Carree evolved from high flying crowd pleaser to six time NBA champ.

There were no real holes that I can think of in his game.
