Excellent question and in fact you found the correct person to ask it! My father owns a heating and ac company here in upstate ny. We are Lennox dealers and if you've done your homework you'll know that Lennox is one of the top rated Companys in thier field. However choosing the correct company to go through can be difficult! I can tell you what size BTU furnace you are in need of if you can tell me the size of your house! I can do the same for the amount on ac you'll need. The average house needs a 2 ton ac system and a 75000 btu furnace. Email me privatly and I'll give you my office email address for further infomation. Good Luck!!

There are several brands out their Tran, lennox,.Armstrong. Ask an installer, what is better. I did and I purchased a Lennox product. The name is Goodman it was about 15% cheaper than a lennex. You always pay for the name. I have 2600 square foot house they will measure one that will fit it. Get as munch effensicey furnace as you can afford, you will get your money back. I have an 93% efficient furnace I paid about 1900 for but it cut my heating bills in half. Last winter I had a 700 dollar heating bill, with the new furnace none were over 225. My house is 50 years old, if I re insulated I bet it would be less than 175 a month to heat my home.
Most furnaces are made with the stuff no matter what brand, But if you get one get one with a high efficiency rating.

My father doesn't own a heating company, but I do so I know that my advice comes from knowing the trade (and NOT the owner). You should research the subject at your local library and on the internet. A 13 seer A/C and a 95% AFUE furnace is probably your best bet. Get a few bids, compare prices, and check with local references, friends, and the Better Business Bureau. Brands hardly matter, but the Carrier group and Goodman has the biggest market share of residential furnaces and A/Cs.

go with at least 13 seer, trane or equal. 1 ton will do 700 sq ft avg.
so when we build a 2100 sq ft house i would figure 3 - 3 1/2 ton unit on bid. windows and doors and amount of heat lose and which way house is facing to due northis info needed to figure correct.

the best way is to measure your home or dwelling. square feet wise then find a good rated unit. rate i mean by environment friendly and if the btu's will cover the area adequately and of course price.

Split A/C. If it is too humid climate, go for A/C. Otherwise, you can have water coolers also.
