Most public works employees come from the ranks of the trade industry. Carpenters, Masons, Heavy equipment operators. Truck Drivers, Plumbers. Electricians. Even Civil Engineers. These are just a few of the many skilled tradesmen need to operate in the P.W. Field, and most are highly trained in there Field. Public works are made up of several different departments. Parks, Streets, Maintenance, Water, Sewer. all are geared to the up keep of the infrastructure of there City. P.W. departments are geared to interact with each other in order to complete a project or daily work activity. They often work with the local Police, Fire, and other Private utility's such as the electric & Gas companys in keep there City safe. Visual inspection and age of the streets are just two of the many factors that go into knowing when a street needs repaving. On a daily bases you will find Parks Dept: employees cutting grass in parks and playgrounds. the Streets department may be repairing pot holes in the roads and streets. The Water Dept: maybe installing a new water service to a building. Sewer Dept: might be cleaning storm drains to insure the next rainy day the rain water is cleared from the street. These are just a few of the many daily jobs in the P.W. feild. Very few people get to see what go's on behind the sceens to keep a P.W. operating in a efficient mannor. Secratarys, book keepers. and Elected officals all work together for a better comunity.
