In an answer to a recent question someone remarked that gay people are " miswired" sexually. A form of mutation, " defective" genes. What is your opinion on this?

Mutations happen all the time in evolution. So which are you going to believe - that evolution made us gay or that it doesn't exist?

When a mutation does arise in such massive numbers of a population (homosexuality is present in approx. 10% of any population in the world), it usually means it is an improvement. I would advise you to confirm this with basic biology, but, as that is not in the Bible, I doubt you adhere to it.

Have a pleasant day.

God doesn't make "miswired" or defective souls. Love is the greatest gift we have been given. You love someone not because they are a man or a woman...you love because of who they are inside. What is defective and miswired are the judgments of other people on something they have no business judging. God is alive and well and doesn't need our input on his relationship with other souls.
But that is just my opinion.

No, I don't think DNA has to do with homosexuality.

I don't remember reading this somewhere (probably one of Alfred Kinsey's literature), about people are born as bisexuals. There are 2 ways that we define our sexuality. First is by socializing with people and how your surroundings affect it. For example, if you are the only son and you have 3 or 4 sisters, it is likely for you to be gay (although it's not 100% definite). Second, is your own choice. I remember when I was a little kid, I kept saying to myself; men are attractive, or oh ... Batman is hot ... or something like that, and I don't feel like changing those images in my mind. So, voila, here I am as a gay -- which I'm happy and comfortable to be like this.

Back about DNA, DNA consist of proteins that is derived from your parents. These proteins (Adenine, Guanine, Thymine, Cytosine) bind and form a double-helix, and exchanging your parents' shared characteristics and form you. So there is no way that DNA affects your sexuality. You don't think one of your parents is homosexual, do you?

How do you know that, if gayness is switched on at a genetic level, it is defective? Kindly read my answer on the subject of the Gay gene. What possible knowledge or understanding do you have about the rationale pro or anti homosexuality that can make you determine it does not serve a natural need?

BTW If your next question would be about procreation, don't bother asking it.

Incidentally did you know that mothers have been blamed for their offspring being gay? Hormonal imbalances during pregancy, are cited for all sorts of "unhealthy" children. Please remember what I said about Humility in your previous question.

Regards

There is nothing defective or miswired about them. They are who they are. It is in the brain and they are born with it. It is NOT a disease or a mistake.

I'd say as defective as brunettes to blondes, blue eyes to brown, brown skin to white, or penises to vaginas. Please don't assume that homosexuallity is a scientific malady. Agree to it or not, if everyone else can put whomever they want into their bedroom then so can men. It's non-mathematical and non-scientific. It's just a primevil instinct at work. And they appear to be happy. Be happy for them.

I hope this answer just changed a life. Peace.

Not "defective genes". Not a choice of "free will" either. Check link to see story on identical twins. Same genes, same upbringing, different orientation.
