In an answer to a recent question someone remarked that gay people are " miswired" sexually. A form of mutation, " defective" genes. What is your opinion on this?

The research you are talking about was a study done in England about two years ago. It took several hundreds of people, male and female, straight, gay and bi and looked at the brain wave patterns of all of them. There was a definite correlation between brain wave patterns and sexual preference.
Are they miswired due to gene mutation? The conclusion of the study was that there needed to be more study because they could not find a definitive answer to that question.
My opinion -- humans have been changing for thousands of years the idea that a gene mutation causes homosexuality is a little on the far out side. but it could be. More to the point is where will this lead if indeed it is determined that there is a mutation that can be identified as causing homosexuality. Mass abortion of any fetus having that mutation. You need to think before you leap.

No, I'm not gay but I need to comment on this.
We are back to the old "nature-nurture" controversy, i.e. heredity or environment. Previously, it concerned academic and social achievement.
So far, no one has produced any SCIENTIFIC data to support the hypothesis that homosexuality is due to genetic code sequencing. There are some data, however, on hormone activity. These are not the same thing and the hormone imbalance can be corrected.
Homosexuals, however, assert that this is the way they are, accept us this way, for God created us like this. Does the same argument hold for the arsonist? or the rapist?

BS. Gay, straight, lesbian, bi, trans are all variables in human sexuality from the beginning. It is societal canalization that judges in a pejorative manner. Different does not equal defective.

my opinion is i feel so sorry for your children to have to be brought up in an environment like your home
one day they may turn out gay, will you want them dead too?
