I have done a lot of traveling all over the US and I can answer this for you firsthand. Sorry, but they won't rent you a room if you're only 16. Most places are going to require that you be 21. They're also going to require a credit card in your name. You can always call up some hotels to check ahead of time, but I don't think you'll find anywhere that will rent to you.

Your best bet is to have someone rent the room for you under their name (if you can get someone to do that for you).

Just to make sure I called up a few places here (I live in California) and was told that they require at least one person be an "adult" which in their words is someone 21 or older with valid ID.

renting involves a contract and currently the law is 18 to go into a binding contract

If you have a credit card, they probably won't ask any questions. Other than that, it's up to the discretion of the hotel. It may be to your advantage to call ahead.

Isn't it 18? I don't even know if you have to be a certain age.
