I learned Pascal it gives you the direct manual programing experience, its logically simple to follow and to understand. ex."IF this happens DO this UNTIL this STOP is reached". Its easier to understand then shorthand C code. Graphics are a problem with pascal. Delphi(next pascal) addresses this issue of pascal.
Your ultimate goal should be to reach other programs as you learned past ones(pascal) and want to maximize flexibility(c) and efficiency(visual basics c) with new features.Buy 2 books to learn minimum from College libraries or Universities.

Learning C is better for learning C++ in future.
