Qualifying tournaments in each of the six FIFA continental zones (Africa, Asia, North and Central America and Caribbean, South America, Oceania, and Europe) determine which teams will play in the World Cup games. Competing teams are divided into 8 groups. This year the groups are divided thus:

* Group A: Germany, Costa Rica, Poland, Ecuador
* Group B: England, Paraguay, Trinidad & Tobago, Sweden
* Group C: Argentina, Ivory Coast, Serbia & Montenegro, The Netherlands
* Group D: Mexico, Iran, Angola, Portugal
* Group E: Italy, Ghana, USA, Czech Republic
* Group F: Brazil, Croatia, Australia, Japan
* Group G: France, Switzerland, S. Korea, Togo
* Group H: Spain, Ukraine, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia

These groups play a round-robin tournament, with the top two teams from each group advancing to a second stage, known as the knockout stage. At this point, teams play against each other in one-off competitions, with teams being eliminated until the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals. The losing semifinalists also play to determine third place.

I am an American also and its quite easy to understand. You have the teams in the opening groups play each other once. The teams in each group are randomly assigned. Then the two teams out of every group with the most points go to the round of 16. Points are obtained by 3 per win, 1 per tie, 0 for a loss. In the round of 16 the teams play another team, and loser goes home. They are decided by the Winner of A playing playing the second place of B, Winner of B playing second place of A, etc. The world cup does this until the championship match, when the two teams remaining play for the rights of world champion. Thats how it works!!

A win = 3 factors, a tied = a million factor, loss = 0. Mexico and Uruguay both had 4 factors previously the game, Uruguay gained so = 4+3 = 7. Mexico lost so as that they save an same 4 factors. objectives also are major, you're taking the # the crew made - the # they received = an outstanding or adverse huge type. And at the same time as 2 communities are equivalent in factors wins the single with the utmost efficient style of objectives. Mexico (3 - 2 = +a million) is tied with South Africa (3 - 5 = -2) and they passe to the nex round because they made extra objectives than they recieved.

Well, for the first couple of games, there are 8 teams ( i think) that are seeded. THose 8 teams will play against each other. All the other teams are randomly matched against one another.

As to the rest, I have no idea.
