FeMale. The ignorant young teen thought the hospital had already named her daughter. The band read FEMALE BABY, since a name had not yet been given to the child.

True story...
I was visiting the sister of my college roommate after she had her first baby. She was sharing a room with another new mother. This girl was young and she was going through some drug rehab stuff, too.
When the girl was taken out of the room for a bit, my roomies sister began to tell us the story about this girl and how she was very "out of it" when her baby was born. She had been moved into the room and her baby was brought to her from the nursery. She was calling her what sounded like "feh-mahl". When the nurse asked her about it, the girl said that she looked on her new daughter's crib and saw her "name": FEMALE Smith. The girl liked it so she kept it that way!
