You can call it either football or soccer, as long as you think about the same game, it does not make the difference.
Why would it bother anybody?
I'm very sorry that the U.S. team was eliminated especially because of the referee's mistakes, and after all, all guys are nice:)

As a slave of God, I am surprised you have not learned a bit more humility & tolerance. We all know in America that everyone else in the world calls it football. We refer to it as soccer so there is no confusion, because we play another game here also called football. It is probably the most popular sport in the USA (I don't care for it, but most do).

International sports competition are supposed to promote unity & friendship among nations. Calling people 'stupid' because they have different cultural references is ignorant.

Don't be so angry. Just relax and laugh at the answer that said American "football" is more popular than "soccer."

In worldwide terms, american "football" is about as popular as curling. Lol! Rotfl!

In the U.S. we play football, big, strong men moving a ball down a field, using sheer force and strategy, while soccer is a game of men in little shorts, kicking a ball down a field while the fans beat on each other.
Your ignorance and bigotry is amazing.

Hey. maybe the Americans are not familiar with this sport, but we can't call them stupid. Come on, where's the spirit of the game?

Now, they may call it by the wrong name, but there's no need to get nasty. I'm beginning to wish our team was knocked out - I can't see for England flags!

People in different cultures and societies have different names for different things. The football/soccer isn't the only one. Why don't you pull your head out of your butt and stop being such a prude!
