For on line, start with Wikipedia under "human rights." They will probably have more links. Also, look at the web pages for Human Rights Watch, and Amnesty International (don't have the urls, sorry). Careful though, because many of those organizations have an agenda and the information is likely to be a bit biased..I suspect there is enough just on line info to keep you busy for YEARS on the subject.
