I just had surgery for a torn meniscus and I was walking without crutches in two days. I didn't need to have any physical therapy, just three exercises at home a few times every day.

Cartilage doesn't really repair itself because it doesn't have any blood vessels in it. Repair can happen sometimes, but it's not always garaunteed. My surgeon just took the torn "bucket handle" chunk out, smoothed it down, and says that the knee should be okay (especially since I don't have a flap of meniscus floating around in my knee causing problems anymore).

I think it must depend on the money spent on surgery cause athletes have surgery for that and are back playing the next day...the type of medical care you get has everything to do with healing time I think. Healing prayers for you *smile*

cartilage is referred to soft bones...not muscles they take longer time to repair......and rome was not built in a day.
