I need to find out if my dell PC has a firewire port pls, i have about 7 usb ports on my PC but i have no idea if any of them are firewire ports as well

Well a port can't be both firewire and usb. So you need to look and see if any of them are a different shape and that will answer your question.

call dell and ask them they will know

if you know what a USB port looks like then a Firewire port is just as wide but a tiny bit shorter -

If you have a newer system then you will have USB 2 on your system which is faster and better than Firewire - the only time you would need a firewire port if you purchased something that is firewire only - which I can't think of anything that is.

Firewire port looks similar to a USB but is slightly shorter and fatter... looks like an elongated 'D'

firewire is rectangular with one side being dog earred (the corners are cut off)
so it has 2 right angle corners and 2 where the corners are cut off.

I don't have recall a dell coming with firewire.

I have a Mac, they come with firewire.

USB and Fireware ports look different. Check the user manual / manufacturer website to see if there is a Fireware port on ur model
