I was a steemer for years...you need to pull the pad....period.
You can save the carpet in some cases but the pad is ABSOLUTELY GOT TO GO. It didn't dry under there, it grew. All the Mildew is under the carpet and will eventually eat the carpet.
Call a professional if the area is any bigger than 25-30 square feet. No kidding...

And it's Stanley STEEMER by the way. Stupid bit of trivia, help you find one in your area though!

You could try it yourself, but i would call a commercial cleaning company like Stanley Steamer. What you have is most likely mold not fungus. If you know anyone with a carpet cleaner you could try yourself first...it'd be less expensive.

Almost impossible. Best thing to do is replace it, pad and all.
