Manny J said it's good for us. How?

Right now it doesn't affect me because I only support internal employees. The call center supports external customers and a great deal of that support is being handled in Panama and Montreal. However, that's not to say the company will not one day decide to send the entire kit and kaboodle overseas. They get cheap labor and cheap buildings. They don't have to pay insurance because many of these foreign countries have a national health insurance policy -- the United States doesn't.

American companies get tax breaks -- if they send the jobs overseas or if they sponsor a tech to come and work in the United States -- they get a tax break. In a news report I recv'd a few weeks ago, the International Technical group is lobbying Congress to increase the number of visas that are geared towards bringing in quality IT people. The US has already reached it's 2007 number and the group wants it expanded. Why? Because they claim there aren't enough HIGHLY qaulified IT technicians here in the United States. To that I say BULL. Every semester there are hundreds of young people graduating from universities with various technical degrees and can't get a job. Why is that we may ask. Well for one thing, these young graduates think they should come out making 50-70K a year without having to put some experience under their belts. Well yes you could, if you applied for a job with the federal government on GPA alone -- you could possibly be picked up right away. However, private industry is not going to pay you that kind of money, so they go overseas and offer an individual a job at a salary they never thought they'd see and bring them to the United States and that foreigner lives WITHIN THEIR MEANS! They are happy to make that 35K a year with benefits.

Its good for us Indians as we have more jobs. The outsourcing issue is much exaggerated in the U.S. Most of it is political painting us Indians as villains but let me assure you that its not that bad. You yourself are misinformed as the airline industry is Global. You cant centrally locate any airline in a particular country. As for the computer companies, they are here because their arent many Americans qualified for handling high tech jobs which often need people with masters degrees and beyond. Look at the positive aspect of globalization, American organizations are more profitable and competitive due to the availability of cheap and high quality manpower. The more profit they make the more the tax they pay, which ultimately goes to the government of your country.
