Dear Jess,
So sorry to hear you are still feeling down however I'm glad you feel your dog, Bradley is a faithful friend and someone who understands you when you think no one else does.

While I hate to be stereotypical here, people who suffer from depression are usually extremely intelligent, creative, and sensitive to the world around them. Which causes us to see and respond to things that the majority of people can't or won't see.

I agree with you about shrinks. I, too, suffer from depression. I've seen therapists on and off since I was a teen and in 30 years, I've only known two decent ones. In addition between psychiatrists, psychologists, and clinical social workers I always found best results with clinical social workers. So keep looking.

In the mean time, I would recommend journaling. In addition, if you play a musical instrument or draw I would suggest pursuing your "art" and letting it talk for you. I find that quite cathartic.

There is nothing wrong with wanting solitude. History shows that the greatest world leaders sought time alone to pause and reflect.

You sound like a great person trying to navigate what can be at times a sick, sucky, world. The world needs more good people like YOU; please hang in there.

Blessings to you,
Pam

I do not forget myself a author (as a minimum, I write) and i'm no longer depressed. But frustration and even disappointment is whatever that comes from writing, since, as anyone else mentioned before me, you're no longer just feeling your possess u.S.And downs, but your characters as well. I'm a very emotional person, i'll admit, and i get worked up over stuff that perhaps I mustn't. Does how writing is going for me outcome my mood? I consider so. Writing is, for folks who are hooked in to it, a type of liberate of their innermost self, and when instantly some thing occurs and that unencumber gets up on hold, it will get all bottled up. I assume that's why I call author's Block a sickness. You are being slowly tormented to dying by using the ideas that you just can not write. Haha, so yeah. Are all writers emotional men and women? I believe so. Are they all depressed? I'll have to disagree with that one, despite the fact that they obviously all may also be depressed at exclusive instances.

hey! I eat a half a bagful of chocolate chips.. one at a time.. real slow.. (heh.. U think I am kiddin'?!) You sound like it's temporary, hon. (When you get a heavy duty one comin' on, it sux.. you see 'no way out' and that kinda ****.. pretty heavy.) I'd just hug and cuddle lil.. what's his name?.. uh Bradley there.. (Good idea.. the pet angle.) What's the depression stem from? I get the blues and I find analyzing WHY in the **** I got that way is extremely helpful. When I feel like **** a whole day.. longer I have to sometimes go wayyyyy back to some stupid silly little shitty event that bummed me.. and think man, after that I started thinking real 'negative..' vibes. I don't think shrinks know **** either, honey.. (I was to one too.. hell, I fired one, one time.. that was a lovely event.) I never smoked.. quite the opposite. I'm a marathon runner, vegetarian (weird *** w/35 tattoos) it's all good. I don't really have anybody to talk to either (my husband's a total asshole I divorced once, then took back cause he got cancer.. hell, he's o.k. now tho.. mean as ****, no twice as mean..) I don't have any friends myself.. maybe one would help? I think you sound like you're mid 20's. Friends are fun (way back when.. I'm an old bag/53/F) g'luck hon.. later (melancholia)

...well I cant say anything to you
becauase I am that way most of the time. I guess I am anti social..lol except for with my sister, who still annoys the hell out of me.
I bet you anything some one gets you, but you dont want to be around ANYBODy.
I have always hated goingoutside..lol
Sometimes it feels like I am watching my body from like afar. I have had wierd dreams where I watch myself die or something.lol
cutting is queer by the way, its weak and useless. (Sorry if that is harsh, but ... it is)

anyways, all I can say to you is to do something you REALLY REALLYlike to do, (All I did was read and eat) and try, just try to be KINDA social, because whenever this dark cloud lifts from your life, your going to feel more alone because everyone is going to be gone (it happened to me)

dont let it get to you jess, stay cool

Self-medicating with chocolate & beer is a great solution. But even better is to find friends, even if they are older & live in another country, who will support you in difficult times.
