Actually, I think you can be logical rather than emotional if you choose to do so ... but it will be very difficult to accomplish this. Now, I don't think it can be done to perfection, and I'm not sure if it's a good idea. One could learn a great deal from being both. One can learn from logic ... it's structure, it's disciplines, it's organization and strategies ... and from emotions ... it's it's joys and sorrows, it's experiences with people, and situations. It's the combination of these that truly makes us special, and gives us purpose in life. We have feelings, and we must wiegh them out using logic, and faith. It is difficult to do, especially to put faith before logic and knowledge. And for those who have lost their faith, for whatever reason, the way seems clearer because it is more logical ... less questions ... an easier life. For those who embrace their faith, life is much more challenging ... a great deal of information to be accepted in intermingled and combined in our lives ... tons of questions, whether in affirmation or doubt, but all good questions. Yet in faith, truth resides, yet not all truth is in faith, it depends on what the faith points to.

The truth is logical.... the truth often hurts and we are faced with the emotional... the emotional is just a pain in the *** but most humans resort to it because logic requires wisdom which the majority don't have... you could watch some star trek :) humans often get a little emotional around the Vulcans.

There is a time and place for everything. Logic is great, but not everything can be understood in terms of logical deductions. It's a viewpoint that is sometimes useful and sometimes not. Logic alone cannot bring one true wisdom.

The emotions are also great, but there is a time to listen to and express emotions, and a time to put them aside so that we can open our minds and hearts to another's point of view. Emotions alone cannot bring one true wisdom.

There are many ways of seeing the world. None of them are inherently useless, but like any tool, each viewpoint has a time and place.

Hi, Black Kill:=}

I think we can be both--in fact, we have to be.

Logic is limited by our lack of infinite knowledge. Logical thought is only as good as the assumptions and facts you plug into your formulas.

And without Emotion, Life would be a Gray Limbo of utterly depressed people.

Mr. Spock in Star Trek was fond of claiming to have no emotions.I think he was wrong. Sure, he did not display anger, envy, lusts and like those--but he was Loyal, Courageus, Caring and Faithful to his Ship, his Captain, and his Crew. Those are all, very POSITIVE emotions.

So if you mean we should not be negatively emotional, I agree with you. The selfish and hateful emotions cause strife and are very hurtful to our lives and those of others.

Hmm it's interesting to me that you ask such question because in my world literature class of my last semester we discussed this topic. In different times where there were different literary movements people had different views of life. Some where logical, others though reason what's important, others romanticism, arts, emotions. (Greek,Roman,Medieval... etc)

I asked my professor what we were now and she said we were both emotional and logical. I though we were all emotional because of the things that are occurring in the world today that seems that people just follow their emotions before analyzing the consequences of their actions first (anger,sadness,depression).
But we are both logical and emotional.

Emotions are what seperates us from machines. If we are too logical with no emotions. Than we are just machines. Living a life as a machine would be very boring.

Its the brain parts which dominate--right or left.Of logic and of emotions.
Emotions rule human lives.Logic is dry.A family suffering from pains of all kinds can not respond to logic,but to emotions.Love knows no logic.Love rules the world.Logic is in the libraries.

Humans are BOTH. Learn to embrace both sides - your logical side and your emotional side. Each has a role in your life. Balance is the key (and not easy to achieve).

Best wishes.
