This is an age old question that we all know the answer to. I have a friend who relishes in telling people that they are wrong to assume it makes a noise. Or that if a noise is not heard, then it isn't a noise. But what about animals or birds? Or plants which may feel the vibration.
And you could always set up a tape recorder..
If you like these questions of philosophy, you might also like the one which asks, "how can you be sure that the tree exists if you are not there to witness it?"
In fact, when we close our eyes, maybe the world disappears?

I assume the "no one" in your question means "no living creature" rather than no human.

Noise can only be experienced by an auditory apparatus such as an ear, combined with a brain which can then process the signal.

To complicate things further, if noise were to be defined by the vibration of air waves, then one wouldn't need an ear, just a perceiver of vibrations. In other words a deaf person could become aware of the tree falling.

In the absence of a perceiving brain, not only does the tree not make a noise, it doesn't exist at all!

Yes, of course it does. The point of the question is actually more about the problem of proving that it makes a sound, since if anyone is there to hear it you can't prove that would make a sound if no-one was there and if there's no-one there who knows. Obviously the tree's falling would cause vibrations in the air, known as sound waves and so we know that would make a sound. This is an age old philosophical question pertaining to proof and perception, it's not really about trees.

it is a paradox. the belief at the back of that's that fact is the human concept. If there is not any person there to grant interpretation then it would not take place. it can not be shown or refuted. How we are able to make particular that it makes a valid? If we hear it, if we don't hear it, we could think of that there is not any sound even even though it may desire to have make a valid. An occasion to simplify issues. I stay in Brazil and you on u . s ., i'm speaking to my mom, yet you're actually not listening to, which ability my mom isn't speaking?

Of course it does, a noise is a physical effect that occurs when air moves, which is why you don't get noise in a vacuum. If there were no people about to hear it, other animals would.

Yes, most often the tree will cry out "Oh ****, hey somebody catch me!, I'm #@%$* falling!". However if there is no ear to catch the sound waves, as well as no brain to process the information, there is no need to postulate this question.=PandaPaw=

Yes the crash sound is made whether a person is there to pick up that sound as "hearing" or not. The world functions whether someone is around to hear, taste, smell or touch something going on in it.

It makes the sound of one hand clapping.
By the way, who actually believes that if you don't hear a noise, then it didn't make a sound. I didn't hear Chernobyl meltdown, but it still made a bloody loud bang.
