I used commercial foods when we were out for the convenience, and whatever we were eating run through a seive at home. That way my lad was already used to our food and he wasn't a fussy eater.

Homemade food ( if you have the time). There are less preservatives, less sugar. Also you get the "real" taste of food. Sometimes with the commercial babyfood, they are salted or sugared so they babies will get used to having all their food this way. Then when they get off the babyfood, the kid will have a hard time liking your regular table food. When I couldnt make my kids' food, I would buy the baby food from the health food store, organic and unsalted. It's probably the closest to homemade. When my kids got old enough to eat table food, I would take whatever we were having and just grind it up in a food processor. They would LOVE it!

Gerber! Leave it to the experts they will get the consistency and flavor right. They don't add stuff you can read the ingredients list. They come in those handy jars that you can save and use for things like storing beads or screws or other little things.Or you can buy those new plastic containers that are handy when you might want to bring along a few cheerios to snack on. So much easier you could spend a lot of time and money trying to achieve the variety and nutrition that Gerber can provide. Try if you like i give it a few weeks before you rush to the grocery store and browse the baby food aisle. Pureed sweet potatoes YUMMY.

I make the majority of my daughters baby food because of cost and the fact that I can introduce her to a wider variety of foods that the commercial stuff just simply does not make.
I don't think there is anything wrong with the jarred baby food and I do keep it on hand just in case. To me the jarred stuff is like a tv dinner. Great to have in a pinch but not necessarily cost effective or the best for you.

Commercial food.

There are lots to choose from, they are easy to prepare whilst out & about.

Yes they are more expensive & probably less nutritional than homemade food but whilst you are tending to your babies needs, you don't always have the time to make homemade food. You can free homemade food but to have the vareity that a baby needs, you will be buying a hell of a lot of food.

It's really down to persoanl choice. It's the same a breast or bottle - your choice & nobody else's opinoin matters. It's whatever works best for your family.

Homemade food is more natural. I always buy organic. I do not have time to do all that stuff, although I do have a machine to puree the food into baby food. My child is older now anyway.

Commercial baby food is faster, but homemade is often times healthier. I have used both. Especially when they get a little bigger, I tended to give them more table food.

Home-made baby food is so much easier, as you just get what you want and put it in the blender. It's quite often cheaper as well. You can freeze it then put it in little tubs for when you go out.

I use mostly commercial baby food. It doesn't have the added junk in it like adult convenience foods. I also feed her off my plate if it's something healthy.

My baby is about to start on solids. I will take jars with me when we go out because it's convenient but while I'm at home I will process his food. That way you know exactly what is going in it!
