My son has four anoles. They are the smooth green lizards that sometimes change colors.

We feed them crickets and meal worms.

Additionally, these lizards won't go to a water bowl for water. Instead, in nature, they recognize water droplets on leaves because the drop reflects light. So, to water your lizard, you have to spray the side side of the cage or objects inside it with a spay bottle of water or, as we do, have a constantly running fountain.

It really does depend on the lizard that you have. Some lizards must be fed insects, some on vegetation, and some a mix of both. There are even some lizards that have to have a specific type of insect such as horny toads who require harvester ants in their diet.

The best thing to do is to find out what type of lizard that you have and then either google for a caresheet or you can post another question specifying what you have.

Good Luck!

What type of lizard? The majority of their diets are insects, but they also eat some greens. Plants or salad greens depending on if they are wild or captive. Some lizards even go as far as picking on fruits and veggies.

any type of small insect like crickets (you can buy these at petco or petsmart) they will also eat cockroaches but thats more as like a treat. small lizards will eat fruit flies but you will have to figgure out how to keep them in the cage with the lizard because they will fly out the air holes.

I think I used to put fresh dead flies in with my lizards. But I also usually let my lizards go before they were too hungry. As my mom would throw a fit if she knew I let them loose in the house before she came home from work. Now about 25 years later, she called me the other day to catch one in her house that came in when she brought in a plant from outside. LOL

depends on the lizard. Some are herbivorous and other carnivorous. Herbivores will eat fruit and veg with a vitamin supplement, and carnivores tend to eat insects like meal worms, crickets etc. Also with a supplement to keep them in top shape.
