So many people today want to have "connections" with people who live in low-income neighborhoods, but dont want to live the life that many people in these places live. Why would so many people want to live somewhere that people like me want to soon get out of?

It's not the life but it's the hardness that comes from the ghetto that people want to have. And now people are starting to embrace their way of life when they were poor because they realize that even though the money wasn't right they still had a good time. Some people use the hood as protection. And it's about this music thing too. So, many people play dress up. But they will loose the act when they grow up.

Becasue it is rewarded. All women love this behaviour...it turn's them on. Someone who works out & plays sports is strong and has a great body...having a celeberity attitude allows you to believe that you are above everyone else. The days of hard work, studying, caring about your neighbor is over. I wasted 25 yrs doing that...now I say bring it on Bit**

You'll have to thank pop culture for that one. It has such a big influance on kids today. Parents aren't much help either. They think "thats the fashion today". My nephew finaly got his head straight, but unfortunately after he dropped out of school.
I wish people would just be who they are.

Because they find it glorified from watching videos and listening to the music of the persons who have to struggle. They themself don't know anything about struggle and they see rappers that had it bad, but now have it good and they want to be like them.

because so many rappers glorify it. there always representing where there from. i guess they think it might make them look or sound more cool or tough and add more character to themselves if they say they are from places like brooklyn, jamaica queens, compton than deerfield beach or any unknown city or town

Simple they are dumb Americans that look at TV and are into that sh't on ,..... TV and think that's cool.
Did you ever see the European try to be like this NO they rather be Educated compare to US society.
