There are a couple of new prescription drugs that are due out on the market that help alleviate symptoms better than anything we've seen before.

At this point of time there is nothing that cures Parkinsons.

There's promising research going on with stem call research in which Michael J. Fox has been spokesman/chairperson.
Hopefully, that front will continue. My Dad had Parkinson's, so I personally have seen the effects of the disease.

There has been some good work by increasing glutathione levels in patients. Research that I've read about were giving injections of glutathione. A more simpler way to build glutathione (the body's natural master antioxidant), is to consume whey protein isolate. This provides the essential amino acids most deficient in our diets. (Most people haven't had sufficient levels of these amino acids since they stopped breast feeding). The reason this can help is that one of the benefits of the glutathione is that it is the body's natural "trash man" - meaning, it will detoxify your body. Many researchers believe that Parkinson's is caused by toxic chemicals (for that person). Thus, as people detoxify, their symptons reverse. You may also want to add something like a high quality aloe vera, this can help with cell-to-cell communication. Together, the two can go a long way. If you want to learn more about whey protein, then contact me. Parkinsons took a long time to develop, the body is not going to heal itself over night.

I would make sure that the person isn't consuming any aspartame products...aka... nutrasweet.

The following facts shown by recent scientific research:

1. Aspartame (nutrasweet) breaks down into methanol (wood alcohol).

2. Methanol quickly converts to formadehyde in the body.

3. Formaldehyde causes gradual and eventually severe damage to the neurological system, immune system and causes permanent genetic damage at extremely low doses.

4. Methanol from alcoholic beverages and from fruit and juices does not convert to formaldehyde and cause damage because there are protective chemicals in these traditionally ingested beverages.

5. The most recent independent research in Europe demonstrates that ingestion of small amounts of aspartame leads to the accumulation of significant levels of formaldehyde (bound to protein) in organs (liver, kidneys, brain) and tissues.

6. Excitotoxic amino acids such as the one which is immediately released from aspartame likely increases the damage caused by the formaldehyde.
